Guests have private access to the entire property: full house, pool, gardens, terrace, social areas, and on-site parking – nothing is shared. Check-in is simple and independent; the host is available for any questions during the stay.
The property is surrounded by nature – at night, insects may be attracted to the lights, so keeping doors and windows closed is recommended.

We had a great time at Gabriel’s home. The GPS took us a bit too far and it was a foggy, dark night but we figured it out. The button for the gate was a little bit finicky as well, but nothing we couldn’t manage. We saw a wide variety of birds every morning while relaxing on the balcony. There was plenty of outdoor area to hang out and the area was safe and clean. It was a bit of a drive to get to the places we visited, but we didn’t mind, we preferred to be out in nature and with the locals.

When i was doing my homework about staying in La Fortuna i saw a lot of places that caught my attention but what made me decide to book Gabriel’s place was the tag line ‘ House on Top of the Hill’ and i can vouch this masterpiece is really on top of the hill , although 30 min away from hustle and bustle of the Arenal Strip but still close so you can get everything you want

We really enjoyed the location, away from the business of La Fortuna yet not too far away from all the sights. (between 30 and 40 minute drive).

We had an incredible stay at the House on the Hill. The open-air upstairs area was designed so beautifully for morning coffee and wildlife watching! We saw many birds while enjoying the incredible view. The house was very very clean, and the AC in the bedrooms was such a nice feature. The garden area is like a mini botanical garden – so beautiful! We cannot say enough good things about this space and our experience here. The location was also lovely. Just close enough to drive into La Fortuna for touristy things, but far enough removed to feel “away from it all.” Thank you, Gabriel! We had an epic time! P.S. the Finca Esperanza Coffee and Chocolate Tour (2 mins away) was unbeatable

We had an amazing stay. It was our favorite neighborhood and local environment in our trip to Costa Rica. The nature is beautiful and the views as well. The local tours were also amazing, especially la finca Esperanza. Away from the crowds and touristy traps of La Fortuna, while being close enough for the must sees. 5 stars

This spacious house feels like a private cabin right in the jungle, offering quiet surroundings and an impressive forest view perfect for spotting wildlife from the balcony. It’s great for groups, but there are a few things to know. The pool is an inflatable type surrounded by a deck; it’s shallow but fine for kids. The stairwell is open to the outside, so expect bugs and lizards, especially at night. It’s very humid in the jungle, causing a strong musty odor inside (we visited in the rainy season). Also, the kitchen is small and under-equipped, and you will need to buy basics like oil, pepper, trash bags, and laundry soap. Overall, it offers good value for money considering the large house and yard, and especially the wild location that lets you fully enjoy nature.

Loved our stay here. A unique, clean, & comfortable home. We had a wonderful and authentic experience a short walk down the road at Finca la Esperanza. The layout of the house makes so much sense once you spend a bit of time there, some additional surprises were included. Definitely recommend!

Must stay! So many things I loved about this place. Host responds so quickly anTons of towels, super sweet welcoming gift upon arrival. We were with 3 teenagers and the main bedroom was away from them kind of private oasis. Nice showers. Hosts have thought of every little detail. There isn’t an oven and we didn’t want to hassle with a charcoal grill but the restaurants are so amazing it was ok. Probably only thing for this place not great for making own food. The nearby (400 meters) farm where we did chocolate, coffee and night walk was our trip highlight. We loved hanging out on second level for spectacular view. It wasn’t hot enough for us to use pool but our family didn’t care. This place was half price of something in Fortuna and it was well worth it and we were ok with the drive to fortuna as roads are very nice.

Wow! We had an AMAZING time at this home. Woke up early each morning and saw so many incredible birds- toucans, parakeets, parrots. The kids had a great time enjoying the pool, and the adults relaxed on the upstairs open-air balcony. The balcony looks over the tree canopy which is such a peaceful experience. Nearby fruitstand, supermarket, and restaurants. Loved the local friendly feeling.

Gabriel was a really great host, everything inside did match the pictures, only problem we really had was we kept finding a lot of bugs in the bedrooms and the pool was a bit of a disappointment. Nonetheless great stay and private.
